We have an open PhD or postdoc position at the Technische Universität (TU) Darmstadt (E13) in the area of Visual Simulation.Description:
In our current research project we develop efficient and stable simulation methods for deformable bodies in interactive surgical simulations. These methods must support a modification (e.g. cutting) of the models in real-time. In the last years very efficient and unconditionally stable simulation methods were developed which are based on a geometrically-motivated approach. Such methods shoud be investigated and improved for the usage in interactive medical simulations. Furthermore, fast collision detection and response are required. The final goal is to develop a real-time simulation system for surgical training.
The candidate should pursue research in the following fields:
- interactive simulation of deformable models
- collision detection and response
- GPU-based simulation
An above-average diploma or master's degree in the field of computer science or related discipline is required. The candidate should have good language skills in English and good skills in object oriented programming.
The position provides the opportunity of writing a Ph.D. thesis.
