Future-proof code

I'm sure many others are also wondering this:

How can we code in 2.81 to be ready for the upgrade to 3.x when it eventually (hopefully not Duke Nukem eventually) comes out?

While we can expect a need to use GPU dynamics world instead of discreet dynamics world, there is next to no documentation aside from code comments. From what I can see of the Bullet3 code, the use of certain functions seems to have been completely redone, and others have barely changed. Has anyone been using the bullet3 code enough to give the rest of us a few pointers?

I guess switching to the b3 to bullet2 bridge and following the svn is the only option for now
