Fastest Intel CPU for Bullet Physics?

Hello all,
I have an Oculus VR application that uses the Bullet Physics library to add physics (I didn't write it) and it can be turned on/off as needed.
With Bullet Physics off, the application can hit required 90FPS for optimal VR viewing.
But with Bullet Physics turned on, the application can only manage about 40-50FPS which is not good for motion in VR viewing.
I need to speed up the frame rates with Bullet Physics enabled so my questions are...
1. Does Bullet Physics engine run only on a single CPU core or is it able to use multiple cores?
2. What is the current best (not Xeon) Intel CPU to buy to speed up Bullet Physics processing?
I realise second question depends on the answer to the first question, as certain Intel CPUs have much better single core performance than others, so if Bullet Physics is only able to use a single core, then the fastest performing single core Intel would appear to be best wouldn't it?
eg. Intel Core i7-7700K @ 4.20GHz https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
But if it is multicore capable then maybe the fastest multicore non-Xeon Intel in chart ie. Intel Core i7-6950X @ 3.00GHz? https://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
Those charts do not appear to have any of the new Intel Core i9 Skylake-X processors series so I can't tell if they are better than above older models either.
Any ideas?
